Nomads under 18’s started their pre season campaign with a 6-2 defeat at Curzon Ashton. The “Nash” are 2 leagues higher than the Nomads in the NWYA and it was a good first game for the youngsters as they head towards their inaugural season under the Nomads banner

Match report from manager Sam Holtham

Nomads started well after pitching the ball in midfield and from a Lewis Park strike within 5mins.. Nomads 1-0.

From then, Nomads found themselves deep in there own half for a while which lead to Curzon piling on pressure and scored two goals midway through the first half.
Nomads respond shortly after with an equaliser with George Buckingham finishing at the near post, from a Luke Tinsley through ball.


Immediately after the restart, Curzon score to make 2-3. From then on Curzon make if difficult for nomads with the final score 6-2 Curzon Ashton.
Despite the score, there was lots of positive to take away and the team will continue build confidence throughout pre season.

Manager comments:
We knew going into the game it was going to be a tough test against Curzon. Nevertheless, I was pleased with the
application and attitude from the players, and I’m looking forward to what see what team are capable of in the coming weeks.
