The Nomads under 18’s squad replicated the first teams results as they also drew with Stockport Georgians in a pre season friendly, albeit a goal each less as this fixture finished 2-2. Nomads were arguably the better of the two teams and had the most chances but struggled to take advantage and will need to work on their finishing.

The squad will take encouragement though from their efforts against a team who start the season in the league above Nomads and special plaudits should go to both keepers who played well in the match and each managed a penalty save

manager Sam Holtham had this to say about the match

“After a tough game against Curzon Ashton last week, I really wanted the team to bounce back today with a good performance and a result in our favour.

After the final whistle, we should of had both.
The players showed a dominant and professional performance however due to two mistakes and not being clinical enough, the game ended 2-2.

Over all, I am really pleased with how the players conducted themselves against a Stockport Georgians side who are in the division above.
There we’re lots of positive to take and a big step in the right direction for the U18s. I am looking for the players to follow on from today’s performance into next week with games against Rammsbottom United & Stockport County.”
