After the game we got the thoughts of Manager Jake Davies:
“Last night was a very pleasing result, there isn’t many times where we’ve won 1-0 and even if your not at your best being able to dig in and get over the line is an important quality and we shown that last night.
I think our performance warranted the win, we were the better team over the course of the game and created the better opportunities. We shown a bit of everything, good football in the first half just not creating as many chances as we’d like but we firm control of the game after the first 15 mins, once we stopped turning the ball over and Charlie started influencing the game we were giving them all sorts of problems in their press. Danny took his goal well and Tinks doesn’t get many assists but produced a great pass to get him in.
Second half they were more aggressive in their press and changed their shape to deal with the threat our central areas was giving them, I think this helped them close us down but it certainly had an impact on how dangerous they looked going forward. Jack McConnell was their biggest threat and he didn’t do anything in the second half to threaten our goal. I thought we defended direct balls very well and our midfielders won the second balls around our box and this meant that even though we weren’t at our best with the ball that we had control over the game still. Cheadle Town are very good they second balls around your box, we swept behind Pat Davin well and you have to do this when your playing against them, we’ve taken 4 points and beat them in the cup. A great effort against our neighbours and a step in the right direction.”
