North West Youth Alliance Division 2

We knew prior going into the game it wasn’t going to be easy but we were confident that we could get a result on the day.

Nomads went 1-0 up on the 15min mark with Asa Knighton getting on the end Luke Farrand pass, for his second Goal in as many games.

From then on, neither team team managed to get full control on the game, which was disrupted by fouls for both teams. At times Nomads managed to put Vauxhall under pressure from direct ball into the box with the presents of Ben Charlesworth and Sasha Asal, but failed to convert any chances. Nomads had the best of the first half but couldn’t build on the 1-0 lead before half time.

The second half didn’t start well for Nomads, good play from Vauxhall leads to shot on goal and forced the goalkeeper to make a save, a poor reaction around the ball lead to the ball landing in the net on the second phase. Vauxhall then took control of the game with a second goal.

Nomads responded well with Ben Charleswoth heading a Luke Tinsley corner, for his first goal of the season. However not long after, Vauxhall latched onto a lose ball and made it 3-2, followed by a free kick being well covered towards to latter stages.

After the game Manager Sam Holtham gave his thoughts. “We were confident going into this game as we’ve played Vauxhall already this season, and felt like we should have took something from the away fixture. At times in the game we looked good but lacked good enough ball retention to really hurt them. Credit to Vauxhall, they are a tough team to play against and they made it hard for us to play out game.”
